What we aim for, what we have actually done, and what is still missing. Including the parts we are not finished with.

What we are aiming for
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, at level AA. That is the standard most public sites are measured against, and it is checked automatically on every build rather than at the end of the project.
What that means in practice
- Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone.
- The focus outline is never removed. If you are tabbing through the site you can always see where you are.
- Text meets the AA contrast ratio against whatever it sits on.
- Color is never the only signal. Anything conveyed by color also carries an icon or a label.
- Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels on a touch screen.
- Form fields have real labels, not placeholder text pretending to be labels, and error messages are announced rather than only shown.
- Images carry descriptions that say what they show. Decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers instead of being read out as noise.
- The site respects your operating system’s reduce-motion setting and stops animating when you ask it to.
- Nothing scrolls sideways on a phone, and the layout works from a 390-pixel screen upwards.
Where we know we fall short
Being specific here is more useful than claiming to be finished.
- The photography on this site is placeholder line art. The descriptions are accurate about what the drawings show, but they describe drawings rather than real products.
- The map on the contact page is a static image, not an interactive map, and gives no route-planning.
- The contact form does not send yet. Phone and email are live and are the reliable routes.
- We have tested with keyboard navigation and automated checks. We have not yet run a full manual audit with screen-reader users, and until we have we are not going to claim the site is fully conformant.
Ordering without the website
You never have to use this site to buy from us. Call (800) 123-4567 during shop hours and a person will take the whole order — garment, sizes, artwork, delivery — over the phone. Nothing on the site is priced differently from what you would be quoted that way.
Telling us something is broken
If something here does not work for you, we want to know, and a short message is enough — the page you were on and what happened. Email hello@ricoandstitch.com or call (800) 123-4567. We will confirm we have got it, tell you whether we can fix it, and give you a way to do the thing you were trying to do in the meantime.
This page is a draft
It describes the standard we have built to during development. It becomes a formal accessibility statement once the business owner has reviewed it and a full audit has been completed.
